Isaac Newton (1642-1726) is known as the founder of modern science, he changed the way we look at the world and in schools around the world kids are thought about the apple falling from the tree. The period after his laws of motion and universal gravitation were set forward in Newton's Principia has been referred to as the newtonian age. But there is another deeper and much darker side to Newton that lay undiscovered for hundreds of years, one of alchemy and extreme religious views.

In this 2005 Nova documentary we see how most of Newtons papers and studies were sold in 1926 to one John Maynard Keynes, Keynes continued to spend years trying to decipher much of the content. What he discovered but was mostly discovered by others through the years was a man who although viewed as a pure scientist had wider far reaching views and predictions on the universe around him. Why did Isaac Newton predict the world would end in 2060 ? What were his religions views and how could the man that explained gravity and invented calculus have such polar opinions.
