Murder on a Sunday Morning won the Oscar for best documentary feature in 2002.It tells the story of Brenton Butler a 15 year old black male that was charged with murder in Jacksonville, Florida in 2000. The crime had sparked outrage as a woman was shot right front of her husband with the killer then running from the scene. The couple were tourists in the area and Butler was identified by the husband of the murdered woman, this along with a confession let to Butler being charged and the case went to trial.
What was to follow in the court became headline news and set in motion a whole new set of accusations but this time against police and prosecutors.The film while in English here was French made called Un coupable idéal in France and directed by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade.
