The Cuban Missile Crisis Declassified

The Cuban Missile Crisis Declassified is a 2005 History Channel documentary using declassified files from both America and Russia to tell the story of the Cold War Crisis in 1962. It's amazing how few people know just how close we were to world war three during the 13 day stand off between the USA and Russia/Cuba, a war that with the nuclear capability's of the U.S. and Russia could have led to an end of Civilisation.

In the documentary we see how America discovered Russian missiles being strategically placed across Fidel Castro's Cuba. The American response to blockade all entry to Cuba believing the missiles were to be aimed at American targets. The Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev had by now put himself almost in a position of no return and President John F. Kennedy could not show weakness. We see the secret correspondence between the Americans and Russians, how it almost all went wrong when an American spy plane was shot down and the eventual agreement that had not seemed possible just two weeks earlier.
