Martin Scorsese is one of the most respected and influential
film directors of all time with titles such as
Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and
The Departed to his name. When the
British Film Institute decided to document some of the key film makers from around the world on their area of expertise and their countries contribution to film Scorsese was a natural choice to cover
American film.
With the rather wordy title "
A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies" the documentary is broken into chapters that combine to make the complete film lasting over three hours. Clips from numerous movies both blockbusters and little known or forgotten features are used along with lots of anecdotes from his years in the movie business.
