In this BBC Documentary we learn the harsh reality of Britain's insane asylums, how they operated for over 100 years and their eventual closure. Those who were locked up in these bleak Victorian buildings were held like prisoners and subjected to experimental treatments often comparable to torture. Secrets Of The Tobacco Industry

Smoking is on the decline in the western world and there is nothing the tobacco industry can do about it. Advertising cigarettes is banned in America and most European countries, huge taxes are added to every pack of smokes, strong ani-smoking campaigns run in all media and the practice of smoking has gone from fashionable in the mid 20th century to stigmatized in the early 21st century.

But were there is a will there is a way and the top tobacco companies have refocused their efforts on emerging countries that in many cases have no restrictions connected to smoking. In this documentary we travel to Indonesia the home of an upcoming tobacco sellers conference and witness first hand how smoking is growing faster than ever in a country of people bombarded with tobacco advertisements. We also go undercover at the conference to see what the big tobacco companies really think when they believe they are off the record.

Stephen Fry : The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive

Stephen Fry is looked upon as a natural treasure in Britain but behind the jovel, wellspoken outer was hidden a man suffering silently silently with depression. This warts and all documentary was a brave move by Fry; a move he made in essence to let others that suffer from Depression know they are not alone. Personally as a big fan of the QI host The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive is a favorite documentary of mine.
