When Snooker Ruled The World

In the late seventies and early Eighty's the game of Snooker was possibly the most popular televised sport in the UK. The players became celebrity's and made quiet a bit of cash along the way. In the documentary we see how the sport went from the working mans clubs to hugs arenas with the pinnacle being the 1985 world snooker final between Steve Davis and Denis Taylor watched by an astounding 18.5 million people in the UK. There was endless sponsorship, snooker paraphernalia including snooker aftershave and even a top ten song in Snooker Loopy. The polar characters like Alex Hurricane Higgins and The Nugget Steve Davis lived and played in the golden era and while the game remains popular it may never reach those heights again.
