Hitler's Hidden Drug Habit

As part of the Secret History series on UK Channel 4 Hitler's Hidden Drug Habit delves into the recently discovered American file on the health of Adolf Hitler and the journals of Hitlers personal physician Dr. Theodor Morell. Through the war years Hitler became more and more reliant on the man known as a quack and his sometimes weird concoctions. In numerous footage of Hitler we see Morrell in the background, including footage shot by Eva Braun at his home The Berghof you can see in the documentary In Love with Adolf Hitler.

Dr. Morell had by the last years of World War Two Hitler on a huge amount of medication including strangely crystal meth and bull sperm. Hitler thought only medication injected to be valid which led to him receiving up to 20 injections daily, one expert remarked The Fuehrer would have been like a pin cushion. Morell in his journals made notes on several occasions of breaking needles when administering the shots, indeed those in Hitlers circle called the Doctor "Reichsspritzenmeister” (The needle master of the Third Reich). But what if any effect did this reliance on medication have on Hitler and what does the seemingly hypochondriac tendencies say about the most infamous man in history ?
