The Screaming Mummy: Unknown Man E

When archaeologists found over forty royal Mummy's in 1881 it was one of the most important discoveries ever made. Included was the founder of the Eighteenth Dynasty Ahmose I, last great Pharaoh Usimare Ramesses III and other leaders such as Amenhotep I, Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Thutmose III, Ramesses I, Seti I, Ramesses II, and Ramesses IX. That alone was an unprecedented find but altogether there was over 150 bodies found in the tomb.

Many of the mummy's could not be identified and these were each given a letter as way of identification. But one of the unidentified mummy's really stood out, he was Unknown Man E. Unlike all the others Unknown Man E was not mummified in accordance with the customs of the time, he was covered in quicklime paste and wrapped in sheepskin both completely out of line with tradition and religious beliefs. Even more confusing Unknown Man E was bound at the wrists and ankles and his face was captured in what appeared to be a scream. In the documentary Egyptologist Bob Brier investigates and tries to put a name to the most mysterious Mummy ever found.
