Anonymous: How Hackers Changed The World

Anonymous is a something of an online vigilante group or as many members refer to themselves as hacktivist's. In the documentary we follow the story of the group from forming on website 4chen and carrying out early pranks to more organized actions against those they perceived to stand in the way of online freedom. Formed in 2003 over the following years as the groups reach expanded so did their actions, online they carried out hacks on religions bodies such as the Church of Scientology, Government websites around the world and corporate sites such as PayPal and MasterCard.

Anonymous also brought their protests to the streets wearing the now familiar Guy Fawkes masks as a disguise similarly done in the Wachowskis film V For Vendetta. So who is behind Anonymous and what is their purpose ? Can their actions be justified and what are their plans for the future ? The documentary tries to answer these questions, an important note for the video it is hosted on the official Anonymous YouTube channel so whether this constitutes a bias toward the group you can decide for yourself.
